Showa Shell Sekiyu's goal is to support its customers and society as a whole as an energy solutions provider supplying safe and sustainable energy, with oil and solar panels as its two main businesses.

Oil Business
Through partnerships with the Shell Group and Saudi Aramco, which are major shareholders, we refine crude oil imported from around the world at Group refineries in Japan (Yokkaichi, Keihin, and Yamaguchi; crude oil processing capacity: 515,000 barrels/day), and sell it to customers as gasoline and other oil products at about 3,900 service stations (SS) throughout Japan (as of Sep 30, 2010). In addition, we sell oil products including industrial fuels, LPG, chemicals, lubricants, and bitumen, and utilize the Shell Group's global network to export oil products.

Solar Business
Showa Shell Sekiyu has developed the technology for manufacturing next-generation CIS thin-film solar panels. The two production plants owned by our subsidiary Solar Frontier K.K. (Miyazaki No.1 and No.2 Plants) have a total annual production capacity of 80 MW. Following the completion of our Miyazaki No.3 Plant (Kunitomi Plant), which will start operations in 2011, our total annual production capacity will rise to about 1 GW, and with this we expect to achieve world-class cost competitiveness by mid-2011. The manufactured modules will be sold in Europe, the U.S., the Middle East, and Asia, as well as Japan.

Other Businesses (Electric Power)
As a joint venture with Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd., we have started up a natural gas thermal plant (Ogishima Power Station), which sells environmentally friendly electric power produced from clean energy, primarily to the Tokyo area.
